Long time editor from Orbis Books, Michael Leach, has written a clear and honest article about what many of us feel and question.

I invite you to join me in this dialogue and use his wise words as a starting point.
I have been a lay minister in the Catholic Church for over 30 years. I have experienced "Camelot" and the dungeons of the Inquisition. Yet, after all this time I still remain a Catholic. Why?
Michael Leach has shared a lot of wisdom in his book, "Why Stay Catholic" and also in the above article. I invite you to read both as we continue the conversation on a subject that brings so much pain to so many Catholics today.
I will be posting my own opinions and experiences and hope you do the same so that we can all grow together. You can write in English or in Spanish.
I look forward to this exchange!

Thank you, Adele, for recommending Leach's article, it is very good, enlightening, it surely moves me to buy his book and read it. As many catholics in these days I am looking for answers, trustful guidance. I trust that the Spirit is doing its work inside Church and among us. Why stay Catholic? What else could I be? As I wrote you the other day, "Where could we go, Lord, you hae words of eternal life" as Peter answered Jesus.
But... we need hope and trust. Thanks agian.
Blessings
You are correct. We need hope and trust and that is precisely the purpose of this blog.
As an adult Catholic, I have the power to choose where I minister. A while ago (~20 yrs) I decided to belong only to a parish where I could work freely. After a recent move, I did that again. I offer what I have and generally am well received. Those who disagree are the gift of patience and compassion in the making. I know things will change, since I'm old enough to have seen it. In the meantime I can only do what I can do, and I'm happy at that. Choosing to act like an adult Catholic is itself a change agent.
